A STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO YOUR HOUSEHOLD REMOVAL
There is a temptation and cost saving by packing your belongings yourself. APAK's
trained packing crew can go through your home like a swarm of bees having everything
neatly and safety packed in a remarkably short space of time.
- The Date
Arrange this as far ahead as possible. We understand the problems with house sales. Once you have a tentative move
date call your move coordinator and schedule you move. If you need to change the date, give as much notice as possible.
- Mains Service
APAK is not allowed to tamper with mains services. Make arrangements to switch gas/electricity off well in advance.
- Appliances
Cookers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, fridges, freezers or any other appliance will need to be disconnected
from the mains prior to our arrival.
- Washing machines
They should have the transit bars refitted before they are moved, and ensure they are dry before storing.
- Computers
Please ensure Computers are disconnected prior to the removal.
- Freezers
Make sure to defrost well in advance.
- Carpets/Curtains
Unless specifically requested APAK staff will not have the equipment to take down curtains/blinds or uplift any fitted
carpets.
- Plants
APAK will gladly move your indoor and outdoor plants.
- Attic
For insurance reasons APAK cannot remove items from an un-floored attic. Plywood does not constitute flooring.
- Flat Packed Furniture
This can be difficult! In theory you are supposed to be able to dismantle and re-assemble most flat packed furniture.
In practice, it never goes together again. You can move it complete but joints may loosen.
- Drawers
If you are moving chests, sideboards etc from ground floor to ground floor you may leave them full. You may fill the drawers
with light items such as clothes. Do not over-fill them.
- New Home
Directions/maps to your new residence are always helpful.
- Late arrival of Keys
Please ensure the keys to your new home are available to you on the morning of your removal. Late closing can lead to
long delays and sometime mean your furniture and effects have to be taken to storage overnight.
- Plan
Work out where you want your possessions in the new home - drawing a plan is very helpful. Make sure someone is at
the new house to show where things go.
- Parking
If there are restrictions at either house please warn us in advance. Check to make sure there are no low bridges or
over hanging trees on the approach to your house. Check to make sure your driveway is not to narrow for a 40 foot
long ridge truck.
Please warn us in advance if you have made any structural additions (e.g. porch) to your house since a prior move.
This can effect the exit facility for large or awkward items.
- Finally
Please call our office for advice and assistance we know the process of buying and selling and the different obstacles
you may encounter. We are here to help you in any way we can.
